Shana Jones is a mental performance coach and board certified Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC). Her expertise lies in training athletes and performers evidenced-based mental skills to address topics including performance anxiety, stress management, injury rehabilitation, team cohesion, competition preparedness, and athletic identity.
Shana utilizes her education, occupational and athletic experiences to create specialized plans for performers of all ages. She works part-time as a mental performance coach at The University of Maryland College Park. There she does group work with teams, as well as individual meetings with athletes from the following sports: golf, soccer, football, volleyball, baseball, softball, wresting, lacrosse, field hockey, tennis, and track and field. Shana’s previous experience includes providing sport psychology consulting services to NCAA Division III teams in the Boston area, as well as sport-based mental health counseling to Boston-area grade school youth. She is passionate about establishing trusting relationships with clients in order to assist in finding life balance while providing effective tools for competition and daily life optimization.
Shana graduated from The University of Maryland with a B.S. in psychology. She later went on to earn her Master’s degree (M.Ed) in counseling with a specialization in sport and performance psychology from Boston University. At MD Sports Shana will be available for individual athlete meetings and team consulting. In her free time she can be found trying new local restaurants, playing social sports, or reading a good book.
